The official account of the first French Antarctic expedition. The
object of the expedition was twofold: to chart the coast of Graham
Land and to try and find the missing Swedish explorer Nordenskold.
Charcot got as far as 65 degrees south and spent the winter off Booth
Island. The copy offered here retains the fabulous original printed
wrappers. An important book. There are several appendicies to the
text that contain tables. One appendix is devoted to problems and
technicalities of photography in the Antarctic. The book has never
been translated.
